Product design of the ‘smartest’ smart lock robot
The newest smart lock is finally released. I’m honored to have a chance again to design such great products of Photosynth Inc. This time I designed not only the smart lock itself and the door censor, but the brand new NFC reader, which allows your ID card compatible with the NFC to replace your physical door key.
Works for Tokyo Motor Show 2011
As I tweeted, I worked on a lot of concept designs for the movies of AGC (Asahi Glass Company) and TOYOTA for Tokyo Motor Show 2011.
Movie by AGC: Glass Can Change The World
UI for Glass Fridge / Energy Management Pane
Roll-up Newspaper / Newspaper Graphic
Car Dashboard Mockup Panel Screens
It was my first time ever to design a car and a robot, but I had lots of fun making them.
Asahi Glass now introduces their great technologies in a booth for “Smart Mobility City 2011” in Tokyo Motor Show.

TOYOTA Smart Mobility City 2011 Concept Movie
(I’ll post the movie when it’s officially uploaded on YouTube. This is the old version.)
One of my mobile phone concepts “Glassy Glass” was again picked up and used in the movie.
Pitch♪er
A xylophone meets a pitcher.
Listen to the pitch of the sound made when the pitcher is hit. Compare it with the pitch of the handle (working as a tuning bar) to know if the pitcher is empty or not.
That way you won’t bother to open the lid while having fun.

Sign Language Interpreter
The camera captures the motion image of the speaker’s hand gesture. It translates it into an oral language and gives out the translated words.
(the camera capturing the image)
You can pre-choose what kind of voice you’d like it to speak in. I’ll pick up tat of George Clooney’s. 🙂

Bookmark to Remember Last Feeling
On each sliding colored part (made of paper), you can write down your feelings you often have when reading.
The bottom half is a bar graph you can move freely. It shows what feelings you had last time in what proportion.
This is good when you restart reading a book after a long blank.

The Real Pocket Tissue
If there was a pocket on Kleenex, it would be a lot more helpful when you blow your nose, put some little trash in it, and use it as a wiping cloth.

Join from Anywhere
Utilizing Microsoft’s Play Anywhere for kids (this time use it big), we could let kids around the world play together in the same park.
By making the play equipments generate electricity, it could be eco-friendly.

Putting on more makeup than yesterday or not?
What if your mirror remembers how exactly you looked like when you had a perfect makeup?
Capture your face so that you can compare with it later.
With a few webcams, you can see yourself from back, right and left.

Bookshelves for Super-Lazy People (like me)
My desk is always messed with unfinished books and magazines that I think I’ll need soon again, which my wife is always complaining about.
These are for people who feel even bothered just to stand up from your chair, grab the mess and put it away.
This book hanger works as a bookmark, too. When you don’t need the books, just slide them under the desk and everything looks neat!
Slide a tab to the other end and a part of the floor flips up so that the book goes down to a selected shelf.
Throw books in the box and put it back in the bookshelf. Easy!

Zebra crossing that locates pedestrians
If we could somehow install LED or something in the zebra crossing, it would be good in two ways.
1) If it’s possible to use different colors, pedestrians know the state of the crossing timing (green/yellow/red).
2) The light standing out, drivers can detect the pedestrians more easily.
